NEW CLASSES—LIMTED ENROLLMENT—REGISTER SOON

Children Pottery each Thursday afternoon 4:00-5:30 p.m. for 6 weeks starting September 3 — For students in grades 1thru 5. Cost $85 with a $10 discount for members. Limit 10

Beginning Drawing each Tuesday evening, 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. for 6 weeks starting September 15 — Cost $70 with a $5 discount for members. Limit 10 primarily for teens.

Oil Painting each Tuesday evening 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. for 6 weeks starting September 8 — Cost $70 with a $5 discount for members.

Arts for Special Needs Students each Tuesday 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. This is an on-going class where students can join in at any time. A project is usually completed at each session.

FALL DOWNTOWN ART WALK

The September 4 Art Walk is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Sarah Keathley and her Lemley House Art Guild will be exhibiting in the Historic Depot with CADDIS doing fly tying in the train room. Darlene McNeely and her oil painting students Carol Yarbrough, Freida Cole, Tonnie Crawford, and Marla Porter will be exhibiting in C & D Drug Store. Uilani Cooper will bring her jewelry and join the Russellville Porcelain Artists at Pottery Worx; Mary Jane Taylor will be exhibiting paintings and Big Al’s Chop Shop will display custom motorcycles at Joshua’s Fine Jewelry; Winston Taylor and pottery student Heather Beckwith will exhibit at a new Art Walk location, Jump Place at 301 West Main St., The Frame Shop also features a group of excellent artists Angela Anderson, Ann Adams, John Ahlen, Arden Boyce, Terry Boyd, Mark Blaney, Mona Mosquito, Brenda Fisher, Virginia Giles, Cheryl Force, Gloria & Bill Garrison, Hannah Glover, Neal Harrington, Sarah Keathley, Chris Kennedy, Kayla Reid, Fred Shepard, Kendall Stallings, Paula Steel, Jeannie Stone, Winston Taylor, Sue Tucker & Doyle Young. Also featured are Marion Hotz and Carmen Estes. Peters Family Living will show the works of Kip Grimes, Mark Masters, Lee Rogers, and Jeff Stewart, with sidewalk music by the Holy Joe Band. Where else can you see such an array of outstanding original art work and visit with the artists who created it, enjoy good food, drinks, good friends, good music, look over new fall merchandise and enjoy the cool fall weather while strolling in Russellville’s downtown. Community In Unity

Area artists are invited to enter up to 3 pieces in an art competition at James School Park during Unity in Community. Categories are 1st - 5th grade, 6th - 9th, 10th -12th and adult. Either 2 - or 3-D works are acceptable. The religious-based festival will be Saturday, October 3, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Call Chandra at 479.968.1859 for information.
The event will be preceded by an outdoor Gospel Fest at James School Park on Friday beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The community is invited to attend.

OTHER OPORTUNITIES TO VIEW/STUDY ART
The September Exhibit at Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center will feature photography by Rebecca Carson. Rebecca has captured great Arkansas scenes and some from vacation spots.
Rebecca will also be representing the Arts Center at the National Public Lands Day clean- up and fun activities on Saturday, September 26, at the state park by helping you create “fish prints.”

The Russellville Branch Pope County Library will host paintings by Wetzel LaGrone of Dover. Wetzel is a student of Linda Phillips and has been taking oil painting classes since his retirement 5 years ago.

Running Deer Retreat welcomes Sheila Parsons for our fall 2009 watercolor workshop.
Dates are October 2, 3 and 4—Tuition is $250 for 3 days with a $75 deposit Room cost is $60 per night private and $55 per night shared room Continental breakfast first morning included in tuition price.

Exciting September Exhibit

Jack Edwards will be exhibiting his oil paintings. Jack moved to Russellville after retiring from a graphic arts business in Dallas. He had visited here and was drawn to Lake Dardanelle and the Russellville area. He enjoys fishing, hunting, boating and outdoor sports. He likes taking pictures of these activities which he sometimes uses for his paintings.
Winston Taylor and his students will be joining Jack in the gallery with a pottery exhibit. Students with their works on display include Anita Allen, Heather Beckwith, Susan Harmon, Gus Sprague, and Jeannie Stone.
This exhibit will be in the gallery from September 3 through the end of the month, but instead of the usual first Sunday the Opening Reception will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. the second Sunday, September 13, to avoid interrupting your the 3-day Labor Day week-end.
