ARTS CENTER TO FEATURE LEMLEY HOUSE ART GUILD
River Valley Arts Center is proud to announce the June featured art exhibit. The artists of the Lemley House Art Guild will grace the walls of the gallery with their oil paintings and will be available for a gallery talk and question and answer time at the exhibit opening reception Sunday, June 2, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission.
The Lemley House Art Guild is a dynamic group of new and emerging artists under the instruction of Sarah Keathley, the 2009 Arkansas River Valley Artist of the Year.
Keathley, impressionist, is known for her renderings of Arkansas landscapes as well as New York cityscapes and other scenes and people. She is a native of Russellville, the daughter of watercolorist Sue Tucker and owner of WestArk Closing Services in Dardanelle. Sarah and her Lemley House Art Guild have recently moved to a new studio location at 220 West Main Street in downtown Russellville where teaches three classes weekly.
Lemley House Art Guild members include Beth Whitlow, Betty Huett, Carla Swanson, Cindy Mahan, Jessica White, Jonathan Kelley, Joy Mason, Joy Peebles, Joyce Laws, Marie Biggers, Maysel Teeter, Dr. Michael Dalton, Nikki Stroud, Patsy Fleniken, Ruth Burch, Sandi Whitlow, Sara Daily, Sherry Killingsworth, Shirley Aikman, Shirley Batts, and Susan Jackson.
The array of subject matter and painting styles are gloriously diverse as each artist renders their own individual style. “We are so excited to have this group of talented artists show their work at the Arts Center,” said Arts Center director Betty LaGrone. “For some, it will be their first public gallery exhibit and that is always exciting for them as well as us,” she continued.
The exhibit will continue through the month of June closing on June 28. River Valley Arts Center, located at 1001 East B Street, Russellville, is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The public is encouraged to drop by any time and enjoy the exhibits or schedule a group tour by calling 479-968-2452.
